iPod Touch 3G 32GB Digitizer Not Working

My nephew says he dropped it so I bought added digitiser and ease no go. Here's a pic of the digitiser connector. I have no schematic to go off but everything looks beatific afaik.

Is there a common fault or where should I be hunting here ?
